Anne Teachworth, CGC, FAPA, CPC, Certified Gestalt Therapist,
Fellow, American Psychotherapy Assn., Certified Psychogenetics Coach is the Founder and Director of the Gestalt Institute of New Orleans/New York and a counselor in private practice since 1978.
Anne received her Fellowship Diploma from the Gestalt Institute of Houston in 1977 and founded the Gestalt Institute of New Orleans/New York, Inc., in 1977. Anne has conducted workshops and trainings here and all over the United States, Canada, Mexico, Israel, and Europe. She has an office at 1537 Metairie Rd., in Metairie, Louisiana; a suburb of New Orleans and an office in New York City at 315 Central Park West. She currently has a The Psychogenetic System™ Coaching Practice once every month in New York City.
For over 30 years, she has trained and supervised hundreds of Gestalt Therapists in the art, theory, skills and ethics of counseling. She sponsored and co-led Gestalt workshops in New York with one of her teachers, the late Laura Perls, co-developer of Gestalt Therapy. For the past twenty-five years, Anne has maintained a full-time, private practice in New Orleans and a part-time practice in New York.
Anne has taught on the staff of the Gestalt Institute of Haifa, Israel for three years, at the DiMele Center and the Gestalt Therapy Institute in New York. She has a MA in Gestalt Counseling and is a Fellow of the American Psychotherapy Association. She is an Associate Member of the New York Institute for Gestalt Therapy and a Board Member of the Louisiana Group Psychotherapy Society, and a member of the Assn. For the Advancement of Gestalt Therapy.
In 1977, Anne began studying Neurolinguistic Programming with Richard Bandler, co-developer of NLP. In 1980, Anne began teaching flirting classes for singles in New Orleans. In 1987, she and Richard Bandler made a one and a half hour color video tape in Palm Springs, CA. in 1991 entitled THE ART OF FLIRTATION which is available through our Media Store. It was Anne’s work with singles that led her to research their attraction and selection patterns, develop her The Psychogenetic System™ method and write "WHY WE PICK THE MATES WE DO" in 1996.
Specializing in couples from selection to solution, counseling Anne developed a new transgenerational couple and parenting re-imprinting approach called THE PSYCHOGENETIC SYSTEM™. In 1995, Anne presented this new approach at the lst AAGT Conference, (Association for the Advancement of Gestalt Therapy), in New Orleans. She also presented at the European Association for Gestalt Conference in Italy in 1998, the World Conference of Psychotherapy in Vienna in 1999, numerous Transactional Analysis, Gestalt and NLP conferences around the world.
A chapter on her work entitled THREE COUPLES TRANSFORMED first appeared in a book of Gestalt case studies, A LIVING LEGACY TO FRITZ AND LAURA PERLS, edited by Bud Feder and Ruth Ronall, and published in 1996. Anne’s most popular book is WHY WE PICK THE MATES WE DO (1997). It is a step-by-step re-imprinting program to improve your current relationship and/or select a better partner.
She has presented workshops in New York at The Relationship Center, at the Gestalt Institute of San Francisco, Long Island, New York, San Francisco, Seattle, Philadelphia, and the Institute of Humanistic Psychology in Eschweiler, Germany.
